Fun things to do and see throughout the year on the South Beach
Classic Car Show
Held the 3rd week end in July every year, the Eastside Strred Rod Club comes to town to show off their beautiful "works of art". They have some fun... road rally and display along the marinafront on saturday. A wonderful day to stroll the marina.
The last week end in June finds the streets of the Westport Marina crawling with scallywags and swashbucklers! The annual festival includes the Tall Ships Lady Washington (star of The Pirates of the Carribean) and the Hawaiian Chieftain... conducting cannon battles and dockside tours. Parade, costumes, costumed dog event... fun for all! ARRRGGGH
Held the 2nd week end in July each year the Windrider Kite Club sponsors this colorful and well attended event. Stunt Kites, Precision Flight, Lighted Night Kites and the Mass Ascension. Fun for all on the beaches in Grayland. Watch for photo gallery soon.
World Class Crab Races
You have to see it to believe it... 6 lanes... thoroughbred dungeness crab and all of the excitement a tent full of people can generate watching "racing crustaceans"! Held in mid-april each year this true ocean spectacle is complimented by a delicious crab dinner, roaming crab fisherman demonstrating their trade as well as a "Crab Derby" in the marina during which the commercial crab fleet deeps hundred of pounds of live crab in the marina (some with derby prize tags) for the lucky fisherman who hope to catch them. Cash prizes and lots of fun... (for the seal and sea lions too)
Seafood Festival
Held annually on the saturday of Labor Day Week End this long standing tradition gets better each year with fresh seafood served up on the grounds of the Maritime Museum under the stunning 50 foot US Flag! Tasty and a grea way to celebrate the holiday.
